Lessons Learned from the Field

Clarity Transitions has been fortunate to work with a broad range of mission driven organizations striving to make their communities better.  More just; more friendly to all residents from children to seniors; less stigmatizing; healthier; and more beautiful. We are generally invited in to help plan, build capacity, or address a challenge.    With each engagement over the past 6 years, we have been able to strengthen our practice from what our clients have taught us.

  •  Strong leaders share power and information.

  • Demonstrated behaviors are in full alignment with articulated values  in organizations with healthy cultures.

  • People and communities are best served when they have voices that are heard and represented throughout the organization, from the frontline to the Board.

  • Diversity, equity, and inclusion is a long -term commitment that must include uncomfortable conversations and learning.

  • Strong leaders invest heavily in their people and know when it’s time for him/her/them to make way for new leadership.

  • High functioning boards encourage and participate in questions and debate.

Obvious?  Yes.  Easy to make happen?  No.  We applaud the nonprofits who make these lessons a priority in their everyday work, in how they organize and advocate, and the way they communicate.   Thank you for sharing your learning with us!
