New year? Yes, please!

I don’t think that there’s any among us who aren’t ready to let go of to 2020.  With apologies to Hollywood’s version of the Von Trapp family - so long, farewell, auf wiedersehen, goodbye.

But let’s not forget that in the rubble of incredible pain and loss we leave behind, there are remnants of change that we want to take with us into 2021 and beyond.   White Americans protesting the long history of injustice for people of color.   Commitments to REALLY embracing diversity, equity and inclusion.  Companies recognizing that a flexible work environment to support employees and their families is good business.   Respect and gratitude for our frontline health care workers.  Appreciation for grocery store workers and all essential employees who never had the choice to put their health and safety first.

For the nonprofit sector, we take with us the knowledge that we walk the walk- in times of crisis those we serve come first; our staff are heroes; our best purpose is more important than our organization.

We understand that none of this comes close to diminishing the suffering caused by the pandemic and social injustices of this past year.  But as we prepare to leave this incredibly difficult year, we want to salute each you who work diligently to make our community, our sector, and our country a better place.
