Wash Your Hands… and Don’t be a Racist

Take care of the crisis at hand, but keep doing what needs to be done to make the world a better place and to fulfill your mission.  It’s what nonprofits globally and in our local community are striving to do.  But how do you balance focusing on the survival of your organization while continuing to serve those in need of your good work?

We are seeing it in action already in the greater Jacksonville area.  Foundations and philanthropists are partnering with those they fund to understand greater and different needs.  Providers of services are prioritizing what their customers cannot do without and creatively working to deliver.  Those addressing basic needs are joining hands (figuratively only!)  to expand impact.  Local governments and nonprofit conveners are pulling together those on the frontline to offer support and resources.

Many organizations and individuals will be brought to a tipping point by this pandemic.  But they are leading with heart, mission and focus – understanding that the best path through this crisis is one walked together.
